我在说什么呢?あなたは解りました? :)

You probably may not know, right? Well, neither do I understand, read and write French. Thanks to the ever so lovely, cute and adorable Janine for contributing to the French element in the title.

OK, what the title means is, literally translated:

“Excuse me, do you know how to … ?”

So the question I’m asking here is:

“すみません、Est-ce Que Vous Savez Comment to decode multiple languages?” (Ok, as you can see I’m blatantly copy and pasting in, so it may or may not make grammatical sense!)

Decode. Doesn’t mean you need to completely understand and speak that language. Decoding a foreign tongue can be both frightening and yet challenging and amusing all at the same time.

Will language ever be a barrier to love? International dating is on the rise, and it’s not that hard to find two people with hands in tow, of different skin and eyes colour, speaking in their unique mother tongues.

If you fell in love with someone who doesn’t speak nor understand your native tongue, what do you do? Put that obstacle aside and use it as a good means to foster even stronger bond by learning each other’s language together? Give up even before attempting to know this person better to discover his/her qualities and how compatible you two may be?

I have several real-life successful couples who triumphed this challenge and are now happily married with kids. Japanese, German, French, Thai … No doubt there may be some frustrations when it comes to important discussions. But, there certainly are fun times when either one of you slipped, said a wrong pronounciation that gave a completely different meaning! Wouldn’t you be laughing your head off? I sure would!

Some of you may already have gone through this, while most of you don’t.

Be creative! Come up with innovative ways to make learning fun. boisterous and most importantly, really enjoyable.

A picture speak a thousand words. Use the power of pictures and real life objects.

Like this:

너 좋아한다 사과  Apple 또는 빵 Bread 을?

(Do you like apple or bread?)

Bebamos el café.2CoffeeCups  (Let’s drink coffee)

Amo i cani!  Dog  (I love dogs!)

Love don’t come easy. It’s even harder to meet someone whom you can fall in love, have this special connection, comfortable in each other’s company, compatible in most areas and complementary in other aspects. Why make language a barrier to love, when you know it is as much of a learning joy as it is lesser of a handicap?

If all else still fails, there’s always the universal language – Language of Love.

P.S このblogは、あなたは好きですか?好き? すごいいね!私もほんとにすきでしょ!(Do you like this blog? Like? Great! Me too!)
