We Were Baptised! Happy Easter!
Happy Easter to you all, my dear friends.
One day after my baptism on Easter Vigil Mass. Today. Nothing seems to have changed from the outside.
Rewind to yesterday night.
The day of my baptism - 7 April 2007.
Hola! The night all the 120 Elects have been waiting for! Believe it or not, my heart was actually pumping so hard before I was about to enter the font and be immersed. Sooo excited! And I was really glad that my mom, my boyfriend and his mom, and my two ”sisters” were there to witness the most important day of my life.
A picture says a thousand words. I shan’t say so much, but let you see what it was all about.
Father Joe says “Kloudiia, I baptise you in the name of the Father…”

and dunked my head into the water.

… and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit”
After being dunked three times, I was baptised. So were my sister…

and my dad.

And that’s how it was when you were fully immersed…

Our parish priest Father John-Paul Tan started his homily with “The church is pregnant…” to our chuckle and happy spirits, “… with joy and hope”
And he ended the mass reminding us of our joy and celebration that night for “the church’s fertility”. What a very down-to-earth and yet cheekly metaphor! Indeed, our church was pregnant last night, and after our “midwife” Father Joe (the priest who’s had the honour and joy of dunking people’s heads into the water) helped to give birth to 120 new babies that night, our community had an addition of children to the family.
So in our baptism gown we donned…

while we waited for our confirmation, with an annointing of the oil on our foreheads and a slight tap on our face by the priest. We were confirmed! On the same night!
It was a very beautiful and formal procession. The entire night was full of songs of praise, candles and beautiful people (like us ;p)
Gifts were aplenty. And I got my share of them too!

See the candle right in front? That’s our baptism candle, and Father Joe told us to store it properly, as it will go with us at the time when we breathed our last on Earth.
Who were behind those lovely wrapped packages? My godmother, sponsor, catechist, boyfriend (missing from photo) and his mom, and some cards. I was very sweetly surprised to get a card from a church mate, who wasn’t in our same RCIA team. Thanks Donna! Though my name was spelt wrongly on two of the cards, but trust me, this is the first time when sweetness and thankfulness had all but consumed me that I didn’t mind, at all. Because i could feel their love when they wrote the card for me.
Yippie! I am baptised! And last night, we finally had our first holy communion. Clare had waited for 18 months just for this moment. Same goes for all of us. I’m beginning to wonder if the church had intentionally done this so as to prolong our urge, and hence created that huge anticipation and eagerness. Haha, oops!
That was my baptism friends. Hope you can feel the happy spirit and peacful state we were in through the photos.
Have a Happy and Blessed Easter!

Congrats on your baptism, Kloudiia! And confirmation on the same night too! Wow! Our (my daughter & myself) baptism also a wonderful experience, except ours was over the baptismal font instead of water immersion. I thought the Litany of the Saints was absolutely beautiful too. On the overall, Easter Vigil was very beautiful, joyful, moving and prayer. And Happy Easter to you too!
