This is a real story shared by a fellow Neophyte (referring to those who are newly baptised but yet to receive the certificate of Baptism) in church.

On our second mystagogy, Sister Mel asked us to recall when and where do we see God in our lives. Even very small things like praying for a sunny day so that she could wash her clothes!

Which was very interesting because exactly on that same day, I had prayed for a brezzy and non-sunny day! Well, she got what she prayed for, and guess what? Me too!

Gosh! It’s either we were at totally opposite side of the island, or God was indeed showing His mighty power over the weather haha Well… it’s up to you to define.

Then one lady, who hesistated for quite a while, ultimately decided to share her own story that took place on the same day as well.

It was the day for her regular pregnancy checkup. So when she drove to the hospital, she realised she had forgotten to bring her wallet, which was left in the bag that she had carried the day earlier. She panicked! But in a very quick moment, she was relieved to know that there were some amount of cash in her car. So eagerly, she opened the drawer to be greeted by a measely amount of $6.

So she thought, well, that should be enough to buy me lunch and car park would be paid for with the cashcard. So, not too bad still.

It wasn’t until she was about to leave then she discovered a shocking truth - due to some delay on her checkup, her cashcard had insufficient value to pay for her parking which had shot to $6!

Gosh! She had used some of the money to eat lunch and that’s all she had! But she remembered she had a friend who was working in that hospital, so she gave her a call. Alas, Murphy’s Law started working, effectively. Her friend’s mobile was off. She called a few more times, and still couldn’t get her.

Now she was at a loss. What she could do was either to leave the car there or call her father-in-law to go and pick her, pay for the parking and drive home together.

Silently, either out of natural instinct or really hoping for some miracle, she prayed.

The Lord heard her, and answered. While she was sitting at the pharmacy waiting for her name to be called to collect her medicine, casually she looked down and viola!

Cash! $$$!  

Snuggly located right at the bottom of her seat!

No, not that much. Certainly not in Euros too

She blinked, and looked again. It was $7. Just enough to pay for her parking!  

Her mind raced very quickly, should she take the money? So her logic went like this - even if she were to pick it up and ask around whose money is this, either nobody will claim ownership, or everyone will! So who is she supposed to believe?

Though she knew it wasn’t the right thing to do, but she needed the money to get her out of this situation. So, yes, she took that money, paid for her parking and got home safely. If this could lessen her “guilt”, she said thanks to God and asked for forgivness for taking the money!

Was God present then? Well, we didn’t know. But that’s what we believed.

If you don’t, maybe you could attribute that to her good luck, or perhaps, her strong thought waves that was sending energy to attract some cash!

Whichever belief it is, this story is to show us that, even in a very hopeless situation, there is still a stream of light. But you may not see it if you allow your head to be buried deep into the ground.

Do not give up on yourself.
