A Rendezvous In The Park

I was really looking forward to it. It would be the first for hubby and me to engage in this together. We were going for a spa treatment at The Aramsa Spas at Bishan Park II. A nature lover, I was attracted to their location. What a lovely idea to be pampered in the midst of lush environment. Hmm… A magazine interview with ex-MediaCorp artiste Jazreel Low who was managing the outlet gave me the added boost in confidence.
Off we went yesterday for the couple spa treatment. It’s about time that we need to relax and unwind, I thought.
The 120 minute treatment began with a garden bath. That’s right, the bath was located just outside our room with a direct connecting door. That was a good idea, until I heard some noises that proved to be the “killer” for an otherwise tranquilising soak.
Apparently, the mini garden where the bath was placed was cordoned off with lots of bushes and trees. Technically speaking, it was an exclusive area. Realistically speaking, we could hear voices of guys shouting and talking as they engaged in their favourite sport - soccer. Now, how romantic and relaxing could it be to be in such vicinity?
So much for the first part of our body healing process. Very fortunately, that was the most I could grumble about. Because the next two parts, namely the scrub and body massage was indeed, very comfortable and relaxing. I complimented my masseur on her skills as she scrubed away my dead skin cells. This could be one of the best scrub I’ve ever done as she combined the massage movements with this exercise. A stark contrast to those I’ve been to who ignored the body contour and purely rubbed your body in all directions with those coarse materials on my delicate skin.Â
The massage given was their inhouse specialty known as the touch massage. I could detect the differences between that and the usual swedish massage. I enjoyed the 90 minutes therapy in bed, though I can’t say the same for hubby.
Overall, the treatment was pretty good in achieving it’s aim which was to relieve my tired body and restore some vitality. Though the staff were generally friendly and smiling, I would prefer to have more detailed attention paid to spa clients (myself included, of course ;)).
I’ll skip all their mini slip-ups here, but I’d like to add that, when someone steps into a spa, they would like to be served amply. After all, spas are meant to give their clients a total experience. And that is no easy business, as total encompasses everything, from seen to unseen.Â
I thought they scored a brownie point in having a cafe that boasts of nothing but healthy recipes to nicely complement a cleaner body after some detoxification done. Well, I truly love this idea to go the last mile before returning home with a better body and soul.
The Green Room Cafe produced pretty delicious food. Sadly, we were greeted with the least warmth that one could get when one steps into a cafe, hungry and wanting to savour their food. The staff conveyed to us to go to another cafe, as they would be closing at 10pm. I knew that. And I also knew the last order was at 930pm. We still had 15 minutes to spare, which apparently upset the staff there as it seemed that to work after closing time was an imminent danger posed by these three new customers.
With some insistence, we were finally seated. And their worries were unfounded as we speedily cleared our plates and left before their official closing time.
In a nutshell, in my opinion, for such a personalised service like spa treatments, little things go a big way to earn client’s satisfaction and eventually, their loyalty to sign up a $6888 package after a first trial. This in turn means that I would have to shop around for more spas to determine which one would I finally decide to plant myself for at least one year.
