She’s Only 1 But…
She has rubbed shoulders, ”wined” and dined and with multi-nationals on her birthday party!
My godmother’s granddaughter, Mila turned one recently, and they threw a happy and joyous party for her yesterday to celebrate her first 365 days on earth.
I was delighted to be one of the invited, and when my sister and I stepped into the function room at HomeTeam@NS at the Balestier clubhouse, we were pleasantly surprised. Filled with abundance of laughter and the fragrant aroma of food, we saw a mixture of colours.
Colours that came from the balloons, sea-themed decoration and birthday cake, a pool of balls and a multitude of toys and finally, the guests.
The most popular person, other than Mila would be the balloon man Moses Yap. Busy with keeping the children occupied with a variety of balloons, his creations include roses, puppies, hearts, stars, big hearts and a very stylo-mylo warrior gear. Oh, I can’t forget to mention the jewellery that was weaved from his dainty hands.
Flower bracelets proved to be the most popular one, not only among the kids but adults too! (I actually asked him to make one for me which created a string of many requests to come when adults knew they were entitled to the priviledge too ha!) I saw someone wearing a pendant and a gorgeous, huge diamond ring which would put the 1-carat stone to shame.
The incesstant chatter, warm hugs and children’s squeals aside, this party left a deep impression on me because of its multi-nationality. I told my godma that she could run for politics and show by examle what is racial harmony to the rest of Singaporeans and the world.
Arising from inter-racial marriages that resulted in kids of mixed heritage who went on to marry partners from such background too , the ripple effect was huge. Mila contains 4 races in her - Indian, Chinese, Thai and Australian. And the friends whom she made yesterday consisted of more Indians, Chinese, Caucasians, Malays and who-knows-where-and-which-nationality.
What an eye-opener. 
Now here’s wishing the lovely and extremely cuuuuttteeee Mila a Happy Birthday!
