“99 Paper Cranes & 1-Metre Eiffel Tower” – Jhong Ren from Singapore (the winner of this project!)

I met my girlfriend when we attended the Union Orientation Camp in Nanyang Technological University (NTU) when I was in year 2. We were in this Food and Beverage Committee and she was the main committee member and I’m the sub-committee member. Simply saying, she called the shots about matters regarding food and I listened to her.

My story of meeting her was not much of a fantasy or fairy-tale which tells a prince rescuing the princess by slaying the fiery dragon. The only thing I had slayed was the shyness in me and the fear of approaching her for a date.

“Hi Kloudiia,

I am perhaps a very average guy. I have been liking this female for close to 2 years already. Some say I should concentrate on my studies, some say i should forget it and move on, but still, i feel she’s the one. I would see her and say hi to her once a week at church where we are helping out. She is in charge of the walk-ins while I am in charge of running the operations. I managed to get hold of her number, but I am always stuck while wanting to talk/chat with her. I know what topic to start with and what to chat about. But I am a very good listener. Can Kloudiia help me?” - C

“My ICQ Lover” – Xinyi from Singapore

Heh :) I know him via my good pals during Secondary school. First impression: Milky, Fair and Cute Little Young Boy. A nice guy that enjoys being bullied by girls.

In year 1999, we got into the same class. He sat in front of me during the first week. Second Impression: Cool, Quiet and Shy. He does not dare to speak or look at me during group discussion.

3rd Quarter of Year 1999, he came to my desks to collect class fund and stayed at my table for a long long time. I sensed some weird behavior in him.

The beginning of love is to let those we love be perfectly themselves, and not to twist them to fit our own image. Otherwise we love only the reflection of ourselves we find in them.

Soul Sold! I’m A Millionnaire!

Check this out – I am selling my soul!

If there is a price tag for your soul, how much would that be? My friend just told me someone sold his soul for more than US$ 1 million on eBay! This is insanity.

Your sole? Not this? Erh, then next!

How about this? An innocence smiling happy soul of a girl? How much is this worth?

He’s definitely not alone. Just do a search on eBay and you’ll find hordes of souls on auction.

“A Japanese Christmas” – Ming Chern (a.k.a TofuMonkey) from Singapore

Love is a wonderful yet so mysterious thing. It happens at the times least expected …

Perhaps it hits you when you are crossing the road and you cross path with the person you are about to spend your rest of the life with. Perhaps it strikes when you look over your shoulder and voila, you future-partner is just across the other table.

Or maybe, love doesn’t hit you until really late. I can relate to this. I felt nothing for my wife during the first 2 years in Japanese class. I guess love between us took some time to blossom, especially when the lessons only happen once a week.

You can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving.

Ha ha :D

Well indeed yes! If we can learn from people on the streets, friends from nowhere, why can’t we take a leaf from Singapore’s iconic representation – The Merlion?

The Merlion looks grand, awe-inspiring and simply magnificent. Standing in the middle of Singapore River, it continuously pours out wealth and prosperity for our country. Well ok, I like to liken water to wealth and prosperity. Hey I’m a Chinese, who can blame me for this? ;)

How about a close shot? Have you been so up close and personal with this national icon?

Love Story 4: Mouse in love!

Erin and I originally met on a BBS (Bulletin Board System, “an interactive software”. See wikipedia’s explanation) in 1994. It was a San Fernando Valley BBS called DreamScape with 24 dial-up lines (northwest part of Los Angeles).  Erin and I found we shared an interest in lucid dreaming, so I invited her over to my apartment one day, and we talked for two hours straight.

We had a lot in common, including going to the same college at the same time, even though we never met each other there.  Our relationship blossomed into a friendship and then turned romantic after a few weeks.  A few months later we moved in together.
