SNAG – Sensitive New Age Guy.

Has this acronym taken on a completely new defintion of late? Or does it still refer to the bunch of sensitive new age guys who offer tissue papers to the ladies on a date, open the car doors for her, speak to her in a special soft tone and pre-empt her needs even before she voices them out and woo her sincerely, relentlessly and romantically?

Well, this poll certainly can’t find out that much. But what we can demystify is the last part - do guys in this modern era still like to do the chasing, or are they starting to enjoy a lady’s pro-activeness in asking them out for a date?

I’ve spoken to the guys who are dating older women in the earlier post Dating An Older Woman.

You know very well it takes two to tango in a relationship. So, let’s turn our focus to the ladies in this post, and see what these women need to take note of when they are dating, well, a man who’s much younger than them.

We know you have fuller pockets

You had a 2 year headstart with your career while he served our nation (assuming he’s a Singaporean and had to fulfill his national duty). Add that to the number of years you are older, and it’s highly likely that you will have a fuller pocket than he does.

Love is on air. Love is in The Living Room.

That was where I was this morning from 10am-10:15am with deejays Mahesha and Stanley from 938 LIVE, where they get you talking.

And so they did. They got me talking for 15 minutes about what I love doing – love coaching and of course, my newly launched book “The 69 Love Notes – Secrets To A Loving And Lasting Relationship”.

One thing that I have always been amazed is the ability of a radio deejay to juggle his headset, checking the various computer screens, making small chatter while off-air and in a split second react to sudden circumstances yet still appear cool and calm and sound perfect on air!

“Hi I’m P and I’m 19, saw an article on you online in the newpapers would like to say you’re really passionate and I truly admire you for that giving up a good paying job to help people. For sometime I’ve been questioning myself whether to look for help.

What sounded impossible and atrocious decades ago had now become increasingly atrociously possible.

In fact, the social stigma of men dating older women had watered down so much that you don’t go “Oh, you mean your boyfriend is younger than you!!!!???” in a pitch that’s 10 decibels higher than normal and your eyebrow raised till it almost touched the sky nowadays when your friend is dating a younger man. Or if he is dating an older woman.

 

It’s the 3Rs – RCIA Retreat of Reflection.

That was where I spent my last weekend. If you are wondering why aren’t there any posts for the last 2 days, that’s because I have been spending some private time with God. And later after the retreat, some much needed time with a long time friend – my bed. Gosh, with all my preparations for my book launch, I literally plunged at every single chance when I can take some forty winks.

Now, I’m back to work!

What a day 22nd March 2007 had been.

To use the word eventful to describe yesterday seemed to be rather inadequate. What do I mean? Well, read on and find out what happened to me on this very important day of my life.

1. The world crashed!

No, the sky didn’t fall as what Chicken Little observed. But my laptop crashed! Yes, on the same morning of my book launch when I needed to use it for my speech that night.

“Hi, thanks for replying .. I’m a 19 years old girl .. My world seems to crash within a few days .. I stopped studying at Sec 2 due to depression ..to cut the story short, I struggled for a few years before I get back to studies again .. last year I took my ‘O’ levels results .. It wasn’t what I excepted, so as a human of course I’m feeling upset right .. But I kept myself positive but my family seems to be negative especially my mother .. She said nasty things like I wasn’t able to study and I should go to tuition .. It really hurt me deeply becasuse through out the whole year I’m studying like mad ..

Last week we were asked this question: “Are you prepared for Baptism? What have you done in preparation for this day?”
Until now, I’m still as clueless as three months ago when I was first posed the same question.

Seriously, we really cannot be blamed. If there is anything to prepare for our big day, whatever that needs to be done has been planned, organised and executed to perfection by our committed and dedicated RCIA core team members in our church. Kudos to them!
So, I can’t think of anything that’s being left out!

While walking towards the dessert shop after dinner last night, my friend was telling me about his love problem.

K: “So you see, this is what I mean. There’s a similar case I had on my blog too. You didn’t read my blog, did you?”

My hands on hips now, ready to whack him anytime if he admits he hasn’t been reading my blog.

F (laughing now): “I read, but not all. But you have one case talking about this married woman, and you know what? After reading that I don’t dare to go into relationship anymore!”
