Happy Birthday Shrek!

Today is Shrek’s birthday as this green big-sized ogre celebrates his 8th year old.

Released in 2001, the movie “Shrek” was an instant hit not only in the US, but this ugly-looking creature with the most beautiful and kindest heart ogre captured the hearts of kids and adults internationally.

Look, I’m not the one with the problem, okay? It’s the world that seems to have a problem with *me*! People take one look at me and go Aargh! Help! Run! A big stupid ugly ogre! They judge me before they even know me.

Do You Still Write Letters?

After a long break, I finally returned to the arms of the lovely radio station haha! Last night, I was tuning in to the song dedication segment while savouring a very good read, and something the DJ said caused me to raise my head from my book, and I put it down on my lap. What followed was a minute of blur as I lapsed into a deep thoughtful moment.

The encroachment of technology has changed the way information is passing from one place or person to another drastically. No longer is there a need to write lengthy, mushy, nice, beautiful, touching or excited letters to your favourite DJ to request for your favourite song to dedicate to your favourite person(s).

Give Your Grandmother A Hug Today!

I did that this afternoon, when I went over to my grandmother’s place for lunch. I have to give credit to the gentle reminder of Tabitha Wong, or more famously known as Budget Tai-Tai, who pens her fortnight column in TODAY. Thanks Tabitha!

She chronicled how her grandmother had loved she and her brother when she was young. I thought of my own grandmother. She too, has assumed a big chunk of motherly duties when I was in my primary school. Never short of good dishes for my sister and I to eat, I don’t remember she ever speaking loudly to us or even scolded us. Did she? I can’t remember.
