7 Days Of Gratitude – Day 3

Yesterday I met up with a friend who’s now working in Hong Kong and back in town for the CNY holidays for lunch. The last time we met was a year ago, when she was back in town for the same reason.

See, Chinese New Year is really an ocassion for reunions, where family members from all around the world will come home and gather together.

Ok, this time round, I didn’t complain about food, or well there was just a very slight remark made on my less-than-satisfied appetite due to the “not so interesting” menu. I didn’t eat much as a result.

We were happily chatting away when the topic geared towards how we look. That’s when I stumped, again!

I had my hair tied up in a pony tail while I pinned up all my fringe. Because my hair simply cannot make it! There you go, that was the complaint I made, about my hair.

You see, ever since I came back from my China holiday, my hair texture had deteriorated. It was already dry to begin with (thanks to all the chemical “treatments” I had) before the trip, but was worse after that. And it never really improved. Guess it’s because I didn’t do anything different from what I’ve always done, so I won’t expect to achieve a better result!

So there I went, whining about how my hair is now so dry, looks so messy that I had to bun it all up to avoid looking so unsightly.

Because of my 7 days of gratitude exercise I’m in, I didn’t go too deep into it, as I stopped myself immediately after realising that what I’m saying is not going to help in improving my hair texture.

Later on when I asked myself, so what should I be grateful for in this instance? Maybe I’m in the state where I’m mostly grateful and is actively looking out for reasons to express my gratitude, so it didn’t take me more than a second to accomplish this!

“I’m grateful that my hair is growing!”

Yes, my hair is growing! Not only do I have new hair growing, the existing strands are getting longer too as each day goes by! Now, isn’t this enough for me to be grateful for?

For I sure know that so long as it is growing naturally, it will turn stronger and healthier with more care and attention put into it.

It’s about energy!

And so, I continued this energy into the evening when I finally used the hair treatment cream I bought donkey months ago, for the first time. Ha! See, gratitude leads to action, and what does action leads to? Results of course! I’m happy I finally did it – hair treatment I mean. :)

Well, at the very minimum, I’m grateful that my hair still looks better than his! Much better, I would think so. See?

Gratitude Day 3 - Dog's hair

After the lunch, I spent the rest of my day working. So, you can guess as much what complaints would I have when I’m working? None.

That ends Day 3 of gratitude for me.

Day 4 is ending soon, and my, am I set for a big shock when I got a call from my mom this afternoon.

Now, this is a big test for me (and my mom) in my fourth day of gratitude. To find out what the shock is, read the next post tomorrow, which is only thirty minutes away…
