7 Days Of Gratitude – Day 6

[post edit: I actually cut this part in the Day 5 post as I wanted to put it on a seperate entry. Alas, I forgot to paste it after that, and now it's gone. Hence I'm rewriting this again.]

Day 6 was a day of more house visiting for the Chinese New Year, and also a day in which I had lots to be grateful for. Let the list begin now.

I was grateful that my grandmother was in a merry mood and we had a good time eating ”lou hei”. In case you aren’t a local and don’t know what is “lou hei”, it’s a dish that is very popular during this festive season as word has it that it symbolises prosperity. It consists of some raw fish slices (that’s why it’s also known as “yu sheng” which basically means raw fish) and lots of vegetables like carrot, radish, cucumber, pomelo etc. I like to eat this, and so does my grandmother. :)

Here’s how a typical one looks like:

Lou Hei - Fa Cai Yu Sheng

Thanks to a friend who helped us bought the yummy “yu sheng” from Crystal Jade restaurant a day before. Without his help, we wouldn’t have the opportunity to taste such delicious “lou hei”. My grandmother was jolly that day!

Then we went to visit a friend, before moving to his girlfriend’s new home. We had lots of good food that day I must say, and I’m grateful for that!

Weather was erratic that day. Rain will pour down as sudden as it stops. And my, I am really grateful for that!

As we were preparing to leave, it was still raining. So we were fretting over how to leave, and my cousin’s friend offered to give us a lift. So my friend got an umbrella to shelter us to the car, when just before we stepped out of the house the rain stopped! (I’m sure it must have been due to the slight delay as we were saying our good byes to the hosts!)

Happily walking to the car and saying more goodbyes to the couple, we set off. As miraculously as it stopped, the rain hit again the minute we were in the car! Now, if this wasn’t erratic, there was more to come.

I was glad that my cousin’s friend could send me straight home before heading for his next destination, and guess what? While it rained along the journey, the rain kindly stopped again just before I reach home. Therefore, I was practically dry all the way. Whew! What an achivement it was!

I must be the sky’s darling that day I thought. Ha! :D Undoubtedly, I was eternally grateful you bet.

Have you ever met with such smoothness before? Like there was no waiting time in between those transfers you have to make to travel to somewhere, the sudden yet very timely call from a friend who happened to be nearby and could give you a lift to wherever you need to go, or to ask you out for a cup of coffee when you felt like having one too?

You know, those coincidences that, when you come to think of it, do bring a smile to your face? Remember those moments my friend, for these are things that no money in the world can buy.
