How I Used NLP To Delay A Gastric Attack and Learnt A Lesson
I was on my way to POE’s coach training last evening. While walking towards the MRT station, I felt that something was just not right.
Well, I was feeling slightly hungry that’s true, but it’s not the usual kind of hunger pangs you see.
Yeah, it’s my dear gastric having an impending riot inside my body! Oh no!
How? It’ll be another 30 minutes before I get to buy something and eat! It was at this instance that I thought of what my mom used to say to me “Take care of your health. If you destroy your body, no matter how rich you are, you won’t be happy cos you can’t get to enjoy it”
Maybe she said this too many times and too often, so I did the usual - swept them under the carpet, pretended that she said nothing and continued to live in denial bliss.
But yesterday evening, I started to visualise if I indeed had the riches like what she said, but my health has deteriorated to such a condition, for example, bad gastric attacks, then I wouldn’t get to travel round the world and enjoy those exciting moments of exploration, not to mention the local delicacies! Ouch! Very painful for me to even think of that!
What about my family and loved one? If I am constantly ill (you know, many times it’s these little recurring ailments that have the potential to bug you for life and make you miserable), then I won’t get to enjoy my time with them! Ouch ouch!
What about my work and my passion? Without a healthy body, how will I have the energy to go around conducting workshops, talks and seminars, writing books etc to reach out to all of you, to inspire and relit your hope and faith in love? Ouch ouch ouch!
Well, you can say that I have a vivid imagination, and usually not used for the best of things or situation, like this. Â
I guess that was the moment - an epiphany on health.
Is there anything I can do? I searched inside me. Yes, IÂ got my solution.Â
I then took a chance. I negotiated with my gastric, to give me 15 more minutes until I reach the nearest bakery shop and I promise I’ll eat something, even if it means I’ll be late.
So I started talking to my gastric while I continued walking, but negotiating didn’t seem enough as the pain had kind of expanded to my back (ya funny, don’t ask me why but it’s like a sharp pain kind of thing along the spine).
No good, I thought.
Panic! Worse…
Then I used this method on top of my negotiation.
I imagined that I had just breathed in a pill. When it flows down my throat, it slowly opened up to form a pink shield wrapping around my gastric.
So I visualised this pink shield which is full of warmth protecting my gastric, while I told my gastric that it’s ok, just have to wait for another 15 more minutes, and just stay there, settled.
Because of the pain, I actually dashed to the nearest seat at the station I found while waiting for the train, and I closed my eyes to maximise the impact of the visualisation. I felt some stares on me, but what the heck! I’m self-healing now!
Then IÂ began my “self-induction” process like this “every breath that I take is giving me more oxygen, that will strengthen my pink shield and make me feel better”
I kept repeating this as I took every breath in, while I visualised the pink shield getting stronger, the pink colour becoming darker with the infusion of oxygen and my gastric growing calmer too.
Ha! It worked! :DÂ The pain slowly ebbed, enough for me to stride to the bakery and bought some food to fill my empty growling stomach.
It was then I made a promise to my gastric too, that I will not let it become so hungry anymore and I will ensure that I eat when I need to.
I intend to keep that promise, for life.
I hope you make a promise to yourself to take good care of your health too, and keep it.
All the best to you my friends, in health, wealth and spirit.
