Reunions!
I had our first (strictly speaking from what I can recall, it seems like the first official get together, weddings aside) Swiss reunion last night. Well, since Edmund said what he said, the only thing I can do to fulfill his wish is, yes, to blog about it here! haha
So Edmund, this post is for you, really (hahaha :D) (and because you banned me putting photos, you have denied our readers the chance to see how gorgeous we are! haha..see, how easily I just shifted all the blame to him!)
Reunions are always eventful. Why do I say this? Enough years have passed in between the day we stepped out of our alma mater and the day we met again that, strip of everything, it’s really a story sharing session.
Of course, there are times when we reminisce about the good ole’ days, in fact, we got into this major confusion on which class were we from right from the start ha! While catching up on each other’s lives, it’s just a night of laughter, naughty sarcasm and lots of banter.
Why do we have reunions? There can be thousand and one reasons we can think of. And to me, perhaps one of the most significant one is to renew our friendship.
Really, it’s a renewal. Just like people going to their respective places of worship to renew their faith in God (whatever religion that might be). The life experiences we have acquired along the road, the new friends whom we have made, the places we have been to - all these add up to become who we are right now. And some of us may find that even though we weren’t really able to talk much during school days, but with our life adventures, we are now able to find similarities and start our friendship all over again!
In the midst of all, there seems to be an unseen force of support among us too, where we know very well that we could tap on in times that we need help.
And there are some people whom I know are aversive to reunions. Maybe they have enough friends to take up their time, or maybe they just felt “scrutinised” or “interrogated” during sessions like these. Well, I respect they have their own model of the world, and maybe when they feel the urge to step into the circle, they will. And before they do, those of us who are already in the circle should just enjoy ourselves thoroughly and make this circle even wider, with even more positive resources.
Life is about living, isn’t it?
