An Annual Renewal Of Relationship
09 Aug 2007
A glimpse at the bottom right-hand corner of my monitor shows 12:20 AM. This means it’s 9 August 2008. This means it’s Singapore’s 42nd birthday. This means it’s my friend’s birthday too!
I picked up my phone and sent her a birthday sms. Happy Birthday Singapore! Happy Birthday (my friend’s name).

One of my annual activities. I mean, those things that I’ll do on an annual basis.
This birthday girl and I used to be pretty close once when we were in our secondary school days. Slowly, as we went on to pursue our studies in different areas and institutions, our distance drifted apart. Still, it doesn’t stop me from remembering her birthday.
Even though we probably only communicate once a year (or maybe twice), but when we do meet up, the familiarity is still there. It’s a nice feeling. Hard to describe, but gives me some warmth in my heart to know that our friendship is still there. I hope she feels the same way too!
Actually, I’m sure there are people in our lives whom we hardly speak to and meet up, but when the encounter does happen, you’ll feel like it seems like yesterday since you met this person.
Even for our relatives. There are some whom we’ll probably meet only once a year, during Chinese New Year. Credit it on the “blood relations”, but there doesn’t seem to be any walls or barriers preventing us from bickering and having a jolly time. Of course, those yummy goodies do play an imperative role to break the ice.
Reminds me of this saying “Silence is golden”.
At that juncture, a big smile is more than words can say. Wouldn’t you agree?

Offtopic: Shameless pimping of new blog… it’s up. But I think I need some time to get the rest of the puzzle piece together.

Haha… and I wonder why did I ever approve this shameless promotion! Hey once again congrats on making the change. I’m sure you’ll have much more fun and flexibility with WP than blogger pal…
Hey LOVE, Kloudiia-ers, do head off to this man’s new site and give him your help! He’s still tweaking his theme codes, poor guy haha…
