Choosing Good Memories

Before I erase from my temporary memory bank, and since we are on the topic of memories, I’d like to share this interesting thought with you.

Why do we always remember the good times we used to have when we were young? Is it a conscientious choice that we choose to remember, or is it really the act of our subconscious mind and our memory cells?

I have some difficulty remembering bad times, funny as it sounds, but I have no qualms in recalling fond moments, even when I was as young as only 8 years old. Whether is it a conscious choice or an unconscious one, the fact is it does not bother me one bit about this asymetric phenomenon.

What I do remember though are the lessons I’ve learnt from those unhappy occasions and experiences. Perhaps I focused more on keeping track of those lessons learnt, that I moved the spotlight away from the dismal. Result is, I am happier! Whether or not this is the entire truth behind my ’selected amnesia’ doesn’t matter. It also doesn’t matter if this is scientifically proven or not that by choosing to focus on different chunks of a certain experience will lead to varying degree of remembrance.

Then what really matters? Besides the fact that I can be a happier person if I choose to be, it is also telling us this very important fact. That everything boils down to one thing again, which is choice.

Choose to be the type of person you want to be, and you will be. Choose to have the type of memories you want to store, and you will have one filled with all the lovely moments.

To be or not to be. To have or not to have. It’s your choice, haven’t you realised it?

    Hey Kloudiia,
Got your URL from IMS, and then realized I recognize you from Stuart’s seminar featuring Alex Mandossian, haha, what a small world.

Well anywayz, just dropped by to say hi, and if you don’t mind me getting all cliched, I’d like to say, “nice site”!
