Noise clutters surround us. The TV, radio, mobile phone, office phone, fax machines, external voices debating and internal voices deliberating.
It seems like we don’t really have a moment of true silence for ourselves! “Silence is golden” - I embrace this. Especially when it is a much needed one.
Thomas Merton wrote in “Notes on a Philosophy of Solitude”:

I went out with a guy for about 3 ,4 years. And we have been on and off since last year, we now sharing a house with another girl. So we have our own rooms. It had been a pain since we brokeup last year, and the on and off is not easy. But we had been really good in the last couple of months and I thought it was going to be different.
This is more like a confession that I am going to make than a blog. It happened this afternoon.
We knew who they are and where they come from. It had become a norm now to have them around on weekends.
Two guys stopped us, and even as we told them we’re rushing they still persisted and walked along with us. My sister caved in and filled in the form. I didn’t. While waiting for her to finish writing down her details, the other guy asked me to fill in as well. “Just fill in the form will do” he said.
