Fancy getting married to a comic character that has caused you to lose sleep over him/her? Maybe ROM can erect a new counter catering to this specific group of fanatic fans who would like to go an extra mile and legalise their love relationship with a fictional character.

If people can live fictional lives in another virtual world, then why can’t they bring such a concept to this real world that they exist in?

I say, this is truly getting crazy. Yes, those Japanese who are petitioning for marriage with a fictional comic character to be legalised in their country is, to me, too far-fetched.

I found one more reason to read the newspapers. Not in a speed-reading fashion, but to slowly savour what the reporter/journalist had painstakingly thought through, wrote and edited maybe a dozen times for an article to be published.

News reporting is no longer mere paragraphs of bare facts. Now, columns and reviews are peppered with refreshing descriptions, lively anecdotes and apt metaphors that are at times self-deprecating and/or sarcistic and beautifully-structured sentences that speak of much creativitiy in this modern era of journalism.

Many, many, many years ago, I attended a block party. What’s a block party, you may ask. It’s a party organised by the community committee, if that’s what they’re called, that invites the surrounding residents to gather and have a fun time at the void deck of a block. Hence a block party.

My neighbourhood just had one today, few blocks away from where I am staying. A month ago mini half A4 size posters have been plastered on strategic locations promoting this event. That’s how I recalled the one and only block party I attended long, long time ago.

OCBC had a promotion. If you successfully applied for their credit card, you get a FREE BREE Passport Holder. I thought the gift looked pretty in the brochure, so I goaded Stuart to get it. He did, and we got a letter to redeem the gift.

I was looking at the location to collect the gift - Joo Seng Warehouse. Where is this place? On a second look, the letter reads 3 Upper Aljunied Link. Ok, this is an industrial area.
