It’s the weekend my lovely friends. If you’re tinkling with the idea of dating this gal you’ve been eyeing for quite some time, or itching to have some private time with your partner, let’s have an escape from the hustle-bustle of city life and plunge to the beachside instead.

How does this sound?

I recently brought an overseas friend to this pub at East Coast – the Scruffy Murphy’s Bar. Hmm, the ambience was good. Right beside the beach, you can watch the world go idly by with your loved one.

Bikers, roller bladers will zoom past you every now and then, though the numbers are drastically reduced when night falls. What I like about the place is it’s not as rowdy or noisy as the ordinary pubs along the infamous Mohammed Sultan Road, nor as crowded as discotheques like Ministry of Sound (MOS). I guess I’ve outgrown these places now, so I’m “relinquished” to quieter places where I can truly relax, chill out and enjoy myself.

The best part is it’s beside the beach! On good nights (and days) you get the sea breeze kissing your face and caressing your arms. The finger food was delicious as well. We ordered their chicken drumlets (no wings, only drums. I asked the waitress why and she gave me a dazed look). Very tasty.

Do not expect any big fan fare about this place. It’s the simplicity that draws me to it, and more repeated patronage when time permits.

Here’s how it looks like …

Forget about this place if you’re looking for a really true blue romantic candle-light dinner. This is where you can literally feel your work stress melting away because of the closeness to nature that allows the miraculous effect to happen. Nature’s wonders work wonders!

There are one other pub you can choose to go which is located along the same stretch. Pretty cool place too with wooden bench and table setting. A totally different feel as compared to Scruffy Murphys though.

I hope you like this dating spot review. Have a great weekend!
