Do Not Start A Business Until You Read This…
03 Dec 2008
Donald Trump has said before that whenever you don’t feel like going to a place, then that’s the place that you’ve gotta go. Such wisdom from the man famous for cutting deals.
I’ve experienced, on several occasions, how this concept applied on me. The most recent one had to be attending the programme Millionaire Business Academy (MBA).
Planning to just sit in and observe, a last minute change led to me being a participant of this latest offering from Adam Khoo Learning Technologies Group.
But, being me, whenever I’m in a situation, I will put in my best. Since I’m in the situation, I might as well get the most from it, right? That was indeed the right decision to make, as I realised from the first day.
MBA set me thinking on many issues related to running a business. The games that we played and discussions we had in small groups were great stimulators for me to brainstorm for new ideas while doing many recall on my past experiences. I learnt so much not only on how to grow a business, but very importantly, more about myself. Funny, isn’t that supposed to be POE? But really, how we run a business reflects the kind of person we are. Even the type of business we choose to be in says something about our character and personality.
I’m not sure about you, but personal growth happens to be a strong value of mine, and I truly love to learn. The fact that I was able to gather some insights not just on what was blatanly taught, but on the other things really made me sat up and paid full attention throughout the four days. How the games were played and how they were designed let me detect patterns in human behaviour, including mine.
And isn’t running a business all about understanding human? The way they think, they way they behave and the way they want to be? A business can be really very, very simple. It is just having something (product or service) that satisfies the need of someone. Yet, how often have we overlooked the needs of others and only focused on ourselves?
Now you know why I say this is truly a programme worth attending? Because it sets me thinking on many things besides the business.
And this, is what stimulates me…
P.S If you find that the title of this post catches your eye, that’s one of the million things I learnt in MBA – copywriting!
