Getting Ready To Act When You Are Not Ready
13 Apr 2007
Have you ever been asked to do something and you replied “But, I’m not ready yet”?
It could be the invitation to go on stage to share an experience. The decision to hire a domestic maid which will mean an offset of a few hundred (up to a thousand maybe) bucks from your disposable income. The time to purchase a property instead of living under a rented roof for the past decade. To start a blog. To start a business. To start a relationship. To forget a past relationship. To forgive someone. To forgive yourself. To love.
Are we ever ready?
Sure, we can prep ourselves as much as we can. All that is within our control has been settled, and all we need is the push button.
But still, somehow, we still aren’t ready.
Our heart isn’t ready yet.
You will never have enough entries to start a blog, because it should be something that is ongoing. You will never have enough money to spend, even when you are earning 5x that of an average employee on the street. You will never be ready for love, that’s what makes it all the more sweet. You will never be ready to buy a property, unless you start spending and saving like you own one already.
You will never be ready to forgive someone, as you don’t know how relieved it feels to do that. You will never be ready to start exercising, because you are still breathing, and you can still eat. You will never be ready to change your career, because nobody told you “You can do it!”. Sadly, you’ve also forgotten that you can be the one telling yourself that “You can do it!”
Do we really need to be so ever ready?
Can we get ourselves ready to react and to act, even when we think we are not ready? Maybe that’s the cue to us that it’s the best time to strike…
By the time you are totally ready, maybe circumstances would have told you that you aren’t needed anymore. By the time you are absolutely prepared, maybe the opportunities have gone stale, or ripped by another seemingly-naive man who took only 3 seconds to be ready.
Maybe, just maybe, you would have missed out all the fun to make mistakes, to learn and to grow as we take it along with us, while we are in a state of “non-readiness”, yet still in action…
