How The Internet Killed My Addiction On TV …
16 Nov 2006
… and replaced it!
It really is not an understatement. No longer addicted to TV, another more powerful force ursurped it’s place TV has in my heart and life for so long until the year 2006 when I turned my business online. Yes, the Internet has now eaten up all my waking hours. Well, almost all.
Now if everyone is talking about how watching TV is a waste of one’s time, then my question is how useful is it that I’m transferring those time to be in front of my notebook?
Well, it’s for work that is acceptable. But the fact is I find it as enjoyable as I am watching TV! The wide range of information I can abosrb is totally mind-blowing. I like to read many other’s blogs, like this, this and this and few others. I like to do research for fun and for work. I like to watch interesting videos which I can post in this blog to inspire and wow my readers.
I have found a new pasture on the Internet. Addiction is really not an empowering word to use. But besides this, nothing can best fit into the kind of obsession I have. Oops, obsession is not that encouraging too.
Then again, what are some of the downside from this? Constant neck, back and shoulder aches, occasional elbow pain and blurry eyes. Now, this is not funny. I am actually putting my health on the line!
What can I do? I can choose to cut down on the time (which I really am!) or choose to ignore these health difficulties and prod on. Looks easy to choose when it’s not.
So the key is – we can still have the cake and eat it too! Just balance it. Have a cup of coffee and take some time to be alone. Stare at something far away to relax your eye muscles and tension every 15 minutes of staring at the screen. Force yourself to do some stretching exercise every 2-3 hours. Drink lots of water so it forces you to leave your sit and go to the toilet. Well, at least you are still doing some walking, right?
To whoever who invented the world wide web and Internet, what can I say?
P.S If you have to be addicted to something, why not be addicted to love? ;p
How many of you are on the same boat as me? What are you views towards this? Leave a comment to discuss!
