Less Is More
10 Jan 2009
Finally, I got around to packing clearing my wardrobe. After two and a half loads (loosely packed) of clothes being taken out, my wardrobe lost considerable weight.
Now I have fewer clothes, and the funny phenomenon occurred.
The new-found space gives me room to organise all the bits and pieces. And it suddenly became very apparent of how much choices (limited is a better word actually) I have now. Because there are only that many choices, suddenly I have more to wear! Being forced to choose from what’s left saved me time that I didn’t expected.
A similar exercise I did was with my phone contacts. Hardening my heart to delete those names whom I haven’t met or spoke with for the past half of a decade wasn’t an easy task. But still I succeeded. With lesser contacts, I now have more friends. Because these are really, in more sense, my friends.
Hmm… Less can be more. It’s nice to feel this way.
Have you been surrounded by too much clutter in your life recently? Be it those hardly-ever-touched CDs, never-once-smsed names in your contact list, those pent-up anger and frustration you have towards your sibling or best friend or even the pile of mess that will not cease to exist no matter how hard you use your “superpower” to make them disappear unless you attend to it, isn’t it time to clear them away so that you have more focus in your life?
When there’s mess, it’s hard to make sense.
