Memories Are Good

What happens when you meet up with a friend whom you haven’t met for a long time in years? Besides keeping them up-to-date with your current status and theirs, it is an inevitable route that you will reminisce about the good old times, and end with a “Those were the days” and loads of beer in your stomach.

Is talking about the past really such an enjoyable activity that nobody can bear to go home without unearthing them? Would you feel that there is something not done, that the reunion is not complete if you do not rake up the past?

Well, I believe we do this because it is the easiest way for human to reconnect again. By talking and reliving those special memories and experiences that we shared, the speed at which we rebonded can happen in the wink of an eye. Then while laughing at those foolish things we used to do together, the troubles we created, we start comparing how we used to be versus who we are today.

What’s more, for certain things that you may have forgotten, you would be surprised to know that your friends hadn’t! Isn’t it amazing! Well, usually these are the ones where you were the one caught in the act and hence, you bore all the embarassement. So, there you go, it’s natural that you like to forget, and it’s even more natural that your friends like to remind you not to forget! Thereafter, you return the favour and start spilling their beans too.

In a way, indirectly it is a good way to refresh our memory every now and then, and give us some milestones to measure against too.
