Miracles

Do you believe in miracles? Or have you grown out of the phase when you believed that miracles will happen?
I realise that as we grow up, we let go certain parts of us that link us to our childhood – the innocence, the purity and the audacity to dream and be outrageous. Well, not that all adults are no longer pure or innocent, or that they have grown to be corrupted in thinking, but rather, when we set deeper footprints in the adult world that is filled with many unknowns and challenges that at times can be too big for us, we may slowly lose our sense of simplicity.
Someone recently told me he doesn’t believe in miracles anymore. When I heard that, I felt saddened. Why? I asked, and he said because there are none. Then I told him this: “Then you won’t see any miracles. Because miracles will only happen or show themselves to those who believe.”
Why is this so? Because if you don’t believe, even when it is unfolding right in front of your eyes, you won’t be able to see it. You have already pre-blinded yourself with the notion that there is no miracles in this world, and henceforth, you will not be in its company.
Isn’t life a miracle in itself? I’ve never failed to be impressed and amazed at how our body functions and what it is capable of, really. Or be fascinated by how people can achieve things that are beyond anyone’s imagination.
I think, too many times in life, we’ve made life too complicated and neglected the simplicity. We’ve also made life too scary and neglected how audacious we used to be as kids. Then, we don’t know what it is that we can’t do, because we’ll always do it anyway until we get hurt in the process. We dare to dream, because we don’t know that is called dreaming; to us it is imagining, and imagination is the seed to great things in life.
Be outrageous in your thinking. Be audacious in what you want. Because only then will you seek to look for things that aren’t happening yet, and make them happen. Now, isn’t that also a miracle? Find the child inside you and feel how it feels like to be a child again.
To end this post, let me give you these two quotes which says everything what I wanted to say:
Children are messengers from a world we once deeply knew, but we have long since forgotten
~ Alice Miller
An adult is just a deteriorated child ~ Max Wertheimer
Have you deteriorated? When are you going to stop doing that to yourself and begin to dream and start to see miracles happening around you?
