We had our romantic dinner too! Well, rather than using romantic to describe our dinner last night, I thought cosy was a better word to use. But I did have a number of surprises though.

Stuart searched on the internet and found this place called Stone Grill at East Coast Road. Ok, he scored some points by making the effort to do some research!

We felt a bit apprehensive about this place, as none of us had tasted the food before. So when Stuart asked me what if the food wasn’t delicious or to our liking, what will I do? I told him, we’ll just enjoy each other’s company then! Because I truly appreciate him spending the time to book a place so that we can have a mini Valentine’s Day celebration. We both smiled… that was on our way to the restaurant.

I got a “surprise” when I arrived. My outfit, which was primarily black and red that night, blended perfectly into the furniture and deco! “Excellent!” I thought. “Great way to start our dinner by being part of the deco!” Well, at least I’ll be a visual feast too ha! So this didn’t really bother me too much.

The restaurant wasn’t too big and the upstairs hall could accomodate up to 12 couples. Without nowing why, me and Stuart were led to one of the bigger tables which could sit up to 6 people. So instead of the small table candle, we had a whole candle holder with 3 long red candles! Each table had a stalk of rose on it. Sweet gesture, I thought.

I was told we would have a 6-course dinner. But I think I had like 8 dishes being served to us. The chef was sensitive enough to serve us a lemon sorbet after a dish of soup to flush down the taste so that we can better enjoy the next dish – Aglio Olio. After that, we were given another small serving of mango sorbet to clear away the heavy garlic taste to prepare us for the main dish – lamb for me and chicken for Stuart.

Even though the restaurant wasn’t very grandly decorated and elaborately themed, overall, we both felt welcomed and at home. Yes, it’s this feeling. I felt cosy more than the utterly romantic feeling. I guess the only regret when it comes to food would be the last dish – their dessert.

Personally it was too sweet for my liking. But I know my sister would love it, because according to her, if it ain’t sweet, it ain’t dessert!

I watched as the room gets filled up slowly, as I was the second couple to arrive last night. Out of the 7 couples there, excluding us, about half of the girls walked in with a bouquet. Hmm, this proved one fact. Although giving flowers on Valentine’s Day is cliche, it still works! How do I know? I could see from the faces of the ladies!

And all these came at a price tag that is very reasonable I thought. The meal cost us $169 for two, and we ate to our stomach’s fill.

Stuart gave me a bouquet of lilies too. One of my favourite flowers. Sweet… :)   They came in purple ribbons! My favourite colour too… haha. Thank you honey! :)

We enjoyed our first Valentine’s Day night out after our wedding. What a great pity that we both forgot to bring our cameras. So I resorted to using my phone to snap some shots, which were very poorly taken cos of the poor lighting and the low resolution of my phone. Sign, no photos for you this time… :(

How did you enjoy yourself last night? Would you like to share with us too?
