R-E-S-P-E-C-T

Is the Universe throwing a message at me, that I have been defying against to listen, to learn and to apply?

Well, apparently my sister will say a resounding yes to my question, for she had laboured on to hammer this concept of respect into my head for almost 30 minutes over the phone.

After a short argument with her (as I too felt that I haven’t been heard for being “disrespectful” as she called it – to which I admitted but wanted to give an explanation for that sort of uncalled for behaviour), we let the matter rest.

Until I picked up Robin Sharma’s The Greatness Guide where you get 101 powerful secrets for getting to world class, and the first page I flipped to was hitting the nail on the head, or rather, on my sore spot.

It just hit me in my face. Secret #52 talks about Simple Tactics For Superb Relationships. He listed what he called “10 deceptively simple ideas for building human connections” in this chapter. No, respect was not one of the ten.

It came as the bonus point – point #11 – respect.

Sometimes, wisdom is gleaned from a random book you pick up to provide some food for thought, as we take in the food for our stomach. Which was what I did, to have some reading done over my late lunch, only to discover that until and unless I learn this concept of respect today, I won’t be getting away scot free.

My sister may let me go for that, but the Universe, or God, certainly wouldn’t, not until I’ve learnt to be humbled by my own behaviour, thoughts and action.

For that, I am grateful.

For your information, Robin Sharma is also the author for the #1 international bestseller The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari. What kind of book is that? Well, if you want to know more, click on that link and you may even read some random excerpts!
