Is this the latest trend in UK?

Well, it looks like it, according to this article. Known as “cougars” referring to women who prey on much younger men to date.

It’s not a passing fad, as one of the leaders of the cougars pack Karin, has been dating her current boyfriend for the past two years. For your information, the age gap between them is an eye-popping 22 years. That’s right.

While some women are flattered being coined as a cougar, like Karin, there are others who are flabbergasted by such terms.

A brief extract on this debate goes like this:

A cougar is a woman old enough to be the mother of the young man she sleeps with. Once she gets older and gets age spots, she becomes a leopard,” says one online poster, in a less-than-flattering description.

A cougar is a woman of any age over 40 who is extremely attractive, intelligent, independent financially, has a powerful career and knows what she wants and, therefore, allows herself the freedom to seek out or accept offers from younger men,” it reads.

Though in Singapore, we are seeing a similar trend of women dating younger men, but with our culture differences, cougars may not be popping up in our island so soon, as those who are dating younger men are still boggled by the way society looks at them. So does any tai tai wants me afterall…? LOL!

Sometimes, I wonder why are we putting so much attention on who is dating who? To me, a bond linked by the hearts is above any other substantial reasons one can offer to debate on it. Even though i might not go to the extreme of 22yrs difference, but dating an older girl is perfectly sensible.
