Successful Branding For “The 69 Love Notes”?

Hmm… I was caught thinking about this when I overhead a conversation like this:

M: “Yes, her book is out. I don’t know what’s the title, you know I can’t really speak English. But you can find it at the bookstores”

F: “Which bookstores?”

M: “Those bookstores. Look for the book with the big, big numbers 6 and 9 in front. You can see her face on it. It’s purple colour book ya. That is her book”

Me while listening: “…”

M: “Aiya (Note: This is a local Singaporean slang) why not I ask my daughter to tell you la. Then you won’t be so blur”

Phone passed to me…

Ok, now you know. M is my dear mother who was chatting with her friend F over the phone, who knew that I’ve released my book, and wanted to support me and get a copy.

F is married with children by the way, a man in his 40s.

So, is this successful branding of my book? That it is purple in colour, has two big numbers 6 and 9 and has my face on it?

Hmm… if I wasn’t at home then, and my mom’s friends can understand and find the book in the bookstores, I guess it works then!

Ha ha… well, another advantage of using 69 in my title, one that’s certainly unforseen I would say. :)

I personally feels that you stressed too much on the ’69′ and too little on the ‘love notes’. Those are just my personal opinions.

Anyway, just a suggestion, going forward, when you release new books, stick to the style. Purple colour, large number and a picture of yourself on the front page (in different pose). This will create a branding that when people pick up that book, they will straight away know its a new book by Kloudiia without looking at the author’s name.

(refer to rich dad book series…. they did it so nicely that you know the book is from the rich book series just by looking at the design of the cover.)
