The Launch Of Matchmaking Institute In Singapore

Wow, finally, a place for all matchmakers and matchmakers wannabe to call home in Singapore! The launch of Matchmaking Institute (MMI) SEA yesterday marked another milestone that our dating and matchmaking industry has grown over the last few years.

As one of the Alumni, I can’t help but recall those early days when only a small handful of us were working very hard to advocate the “trendiness” and fun of engaging a dating agency to meet potential mates, as we slowly peeled off layer after layer of stigma stuck to the idea of matchmaking. That was in 2004 when Two To Tango opened her doors to successful and busy singles looking for love.

Now, with more new blood and fresh faces in this industry has certainly brought more vibrancy. It doesn’t hurt a potential client to have more options too. And like where I stood before, I still stand firm that singles should shop around and feel really comfortable with the dating agency before they take the plunge and sign a contract.

Singles, take heart to know that with more accredition programs taking shape, you are in better hands than you have been before. Violet Lim who runs Lunch Actually will now be conducting the lessons for matchmakers wannabe who are keen to be certified. With her 4 years of experience in matchmaking, plus the plethora of resources that MMI offers, one should be happy with the amount of support they can get to start the business running. At least the fumbling around will be slashed immensely.

Besides showing up as a sign of support, I got to meet up other new dating agency owners too. A very nice and warm session, I thought. Best of all is I got to catch up with Lisa again, after so long. Lisa Campitt is the co-founder and executive director of the Matchmaking Institute from New York, USA. That’s right, the place where it all began…

Congrats to MMI and here’s to a better future for our matchmaking industry in Singapore!

That’s me and Lisa!

I took a group photo of all the local graduates, but the photo turned out blurry, so I can only post this one with me and Lisa. :)
