Weaving a Grandmother’s Tale

These 2 rags are hand-weaved by a 78 year old granny. She’s my mum’s friend’s mother, and she likes my mother so much that she insisted on making this for her.
It reminds me of my own granny who used to do this as well. In the olden times, they will collect scrapes of cloths and put them together to weave into rugs, blankets and such. Now, my granny is no longer able to do this, so when I saw these 2 rugs, they rekindled back all these nostalgic feelings and seem to transport me back to the 70s era where we were still living in shophouses. Hmm …
As I pored over them with admiration, the exquisite workmanship really made me all the more fascinated by this old granny. To fabricate this piece of art, it must have taken helluva patience and, love, from the maker to the receiver. And we are the recipients of her love. How fortunate we are, aren’t we?
OMG! I think I’m hooked to nostalgia and sentimentality! I’m growing old !!!
