I was doing my last minute shopping for Christmas last night. Hanging on till the doors close (Robinsons is the best! They actually extended the shopping hours till midnight! Yeah), we finally cleared most of the list except for two.

So, I have to do a wee bit more last-last minute shopping later.

First time shopping with Stuart, this Christmas’ experience gave me an entirely different feeling from the usual years when I would scour around with my sister. Buying gifts as a couple and giving them away as a couple, hmm … I guess this counts as one of the better parts of a marriage.

I enjoyed this round of shopping very much. Well, not that I don’t in the previous years (I do each time, as it’s truly a joy to buy things for people we love, isn’t it?), but that when we are doing things together as a couple, it just give me the nice feel.  Although in the end we all get tired out, with aching muscles and painful soles, but looking at the harvest makes all these walking around all worth it. 

Will such arrangements last? I’m not sure, as I know of couples who are beginning to have lesser time to attend events together due to the need for one party to stay home and babysit. Therefore, more effort is needed to organise outings together, even as simple as going for a movie or shopping for festivals.

But then, they enjoy a different kind of joy too, don’t they? Yes, from the tone of their voice I can tell the kind of happiness their family brings them.
