When The Women Are Gushing About Hair, Men…
10 Mar 2009
Although it wasn’t a revelation, still, when it happened, I couldn’t help but be amused by it.
I went for a meeting this afternoon. Among the atendees were three ladies, me included, and three gentlemen.
This was what happened:
When the guys saw me, only one said: “I like your hair.”
Compare this to the girls’ reaction when they saw me with my short hairdo: “Kloudiia, you cut your hair!”
“Yes, I did.”
“Nice! I like it.”
“Thanks!”
And from the looks and the tonality of the girls, it didn’t look as if they were going to let the topic of hair stop as that. Indeed, when we were about to start the meeting, one of the ladies mentioned about my hair one more time, before saying sorry and laughing because she just couldn’t help it. How could I not understand how she felt? I would have behaved exactly the same way like her if I were in her shoes!
So I launched into a brief explanation of how my hairstyle came about. Brief means one minute of elaboration. Yes, that’s brief. If time permits, I would have gone on for at least 5 minutes before branching into something related (or maybe something totally irrelevant before coming back to talk about this “something related” topic and then back to hair again?).
When the meeting ended, the girls had to gush about my hair one more time. I felt flattered, really. And I know that I would accord the same amount of attention to a girl who has a hair cut or a change in hair style.
And I equally know the men would be musing over the big fuss that women have over, what, hairstyles?
Just one of the many differences between men and women.
