When They Say “I Can’t Wait To Read Your Post”
04 Feb 2008
A: “So what are you writing for this issue?”
K: “Valentine’s Day feature.”
A: “Oh really! So what are you going to write about?”
K: “Erm, I’m not sure. Still thinking of what to write. But I will surely make it for the deadline ya haha”
A: “Ok ok. Wow, I’m really looking forward to reading it!”
K: …
…
This conversation snippet took place in a meeting last week, in a little office.
I haven’t mentioned this before in my blog, so let me disclose this to you now. I have been involved in my parish’s media ministry for the youth and young adults (I still am!), newly named Potter & Scribe for a few months by now. Or was it almost a year? Wow, time really flies.
Anyway, what we do (for now) is to produce a newsaper, which we proudly call “Tomorrow” (you can only sense how forward-looking we are as a parish, especially the youth community!). And I am one of the writers and editors in this ministry.
If you want to have a copy of our interesting and ever-improving paper, I’m sorry, you have to either 1. be a parishioner; or 2. visit our parish to attend a mass in order to get it. It’s completely free, and it really contains many articles which not only cover topics on our faith, but also on secular issues too.
Back to the meeting and why I’m blogging about it. I just felt so happy and touched that someone is actually looking forward to reading what I am going to say! I mean, have you felt this way before? That your works are enjoyed by people, and they are expectant to read your article.
To me, it signals an acceptance. A recognition. And certainly a belonging. That you know you have done something right, and you can continue to do what you’re doing because someone out there is eager to receive your work. That person is expecting you to deliver.
With such an expectation, how can I not produce? And so I penned an article “14 Things To Do On Valentine’s Day”. I hope everyone will like it, though I know it’s greedy to have such a wish. Ha! :D Well, I always have the right and space to make big dreams. You can too!
P.S We really have excellent writers in Potter & Scribe. In fact, in my personal opinion, their writings have so much colour and fun-filled spirit than mine that I can’t resist not loving their articles! If you are keen to submit an article on any topic, feel free to contact me too! We’re always on the lookout for such talents, ya?
