To begin let’s have some comic relief.

The first one was taken from an email I received from a girlfriend. Poor guy … ;)

Laughter can be used in many areas to let us feel better. Humour can be used as a therapeutic tool and a form of coping mechanism that provides a form of temporary relief of stress. Humour can also be used to divert our attention on something negative (pain, depression, bad mood).

A personal experiment done by Norman Cousins in 1979 where he combined megadoses of Vitamin C and regular doses of laughter stimulated by watching comedies on TV actually had a better effect in reducing his levels of inflammation. He asserted it was largely due to the increased release of endorphins that helped in relieving his pain considerably.

Laughing is good yes we are all aware. There is however this fine difference between laughing with someone as opposed to laughing at someone. Don’t ever make the mistake of laughing at someone, for you never want to do something hurtful to another person which will surely bring you some heartache and pangs in your heart coupled with that guilt-ridden heaviness. Unless you’re a mean bastard (Oops!), if not yes don’t walk down that path.

It is an excellent joy to be able to laugh with someone, especially people whom you are fond of. Your great buddies, parents, siblings, high school friends whom you haven’t met for half a decade, colleagues, church mates and of course, your partner-in-love. Now when was the last time when you had that one kind of rocking laughter where you practically almost fell off the chair or sofa, tears streaming down your face, bending or squatting down from the ache in your stomach pulling which could be worse than your last extreme workout and laughing so loud you swear you could have ripped the entire roof top off if not for the fact you are staying in an apartment and that is seemingly impossible?

How does that feel? Now as I am writing this, my mind is travelling back to time as I recall these scenes. They happened while I was in my secondary school, when I was at home watching a superbly hilarious variety show and when my boyfriend did something really silly-looking and funny that made me broke into a fit of laughter. Being able to laugh like this is really a luxury, and the fact that it doesn’t happen every day only makes it all the more precious and valuable.

More comic relief for you.

How can you create more of such happy moments, or rather laughable moments? When you are feeling the stress and pressure from the events life has piled on you, instead of mopping around at home hanging your head as low as it can go, why not be proactive and create the opportunity for you to laugh?

Find a few good friends, really those whom you know you can click and gel like glue, and go to one of your favourite places and simply let your hair down and have some raw uninhibited rocking fun! You are the only person who is preventing yourself from being able to laugh as much as you can and want to.

How about making other people around you laugh? John Kinde talks about 10 Ways To Make Your Boss Laugh which I find very useful and interesting. You definitely can adapt mosf of the ideas inside to make other people laugh beside your boss, including yourself.

Finally, for a few really good laughs, here are few tickets to some heavy doses of humour.
